How it works
- Drop an image onto the box above, or click to choose one.
- Drag inside the selection to move it, or drag any handle to resize it. The area outside dims so you can see the crop as it will be.
- To lock the shape, pick a ratio like 1:1 or 16:9 and the selection will keep it while you drag.
- Click Download PNG. The crop is taken from the original at full resolution, so nothing is scaled or softened.

Frequently asked questions
- Does cropping reduce the image quality?
- No. The selected area is copied straight out of the original at its native resolution, so the cropped pixels are identical to the ones you started with. Nothing is scaled or resampled.
- Can I crop to an exact pixel size?
- The selection shows its exact dimensions as you drag, so you can watch the numbers to land on a size. For a precise output size, crop to the shape you want here and then use the image resizer to set the exact pixels.
- Can I use this without a mouse?
- Yes. Tab to the selection, then use the arrow keys to move it, Shift with arrows to move faster, and Alt with arrows to resize. It works on touchscreens too.
- Why do I get a PNG when I uploaded a JPG?
- PNG is lossless, so the crop is saved exactly as it came out of the original rather than being recompressed. If you need a smaller JPG afterwards, run the result through the JPG compressor.
- Can I crop several images at once?
- Not here, because a selection drawn on one photo means nothing on another. For a batch of images that all need the same treatment, the square cropper and circle crop take the centre automatically.
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Cropping happens entirely in your own browser using the Canvas API. The file never leaves your device, and nothing is stored.
